The band was formed in 2004 under the name VELIAL and played sympho black metal. After a line-up change in the beginning of 2005, KARTIKEYA became the band's name and Arsafes (guitarist/composer) began to write music based on different sub-genres of metal and oriental melodies/instruments/mythology (the band itself calls their own music ETHNOCORE, but we can say they play Death Metal with Folk influences).
